I have been reading Mathew 6 and Psalm 62

A quote from Wesley’s notes is sticking with me, Mathew 6:33 “Seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness - Singly aim at this, that God, reigning in your heart, may fill it with the righteousness above described. And indeed whosoever seeks this first, will soon come to seek this only. “

If I really give my life to the Lord, I think this is His primary concern, then I must give the details to Him also.  This means relinquishing the right to worry about things.  Worry is not compatible with giving the details over to the creator of all things.  I must “find rest in God; only He gives me hope” Psalm 62:5.  How can I accomplish this level of trust and surrender?  If seeking God first leads to seeking God only then this is a good place to start.

Now I start more actively seeking God first in all things.

Lord, Thank you for the provision you make for Kevin, his family, and all of us each day.  Thank You for the promise of meeting all our needs if we only seek your kingdom first.

I am reading Let Go of the Ring by Ralph Moore and it is really speaking to my need (desire) for control.  He states “God will only call you to do things that are bigger than you are…” and goes on to explain how the ability to visualize the details of an activity to it’s completion probably means that it was conceived of man not God.  This makes sense as we have the mind of men and do not think as God thinks.  I forget the book, but I remember reading that in the Bible.  He also says he had givin his life to the Lord years ago, but not the details.

Lord, I love you.  Please take the details of my life that I may follow you completely.  I beg you to force me to “do the next thing” that Your Kingdom may come and Your will be done.  All honor and glory to you, Abba Father, for ever and ever. Amen

Your kingdom come, Your will be done.

What is one life worth?  How much more a soul.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done.

What is one life worth?  How much more a soul.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done.

What is one life worth?  How much more a soul.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done.

What is one life worth?  How much more a soul.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done.

What is one life worth?  How much more a soul.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done.

What is one life worth?  How much more a soul.

Through your power Lord.

Amen

Today I read Psalms 99-100 aloud.  I have also been reading in “Organic Church” and Ephesians.

Ephesians 10 says, “His goal was to carry out his plan, when the right time came, that all things in heaven and on earth would be joined together in Christ as the head.”  All things must include brothers in Christ whole are not like me.  Christ came to us as an example so I / we should go to them.

Lord, may thy kingdom come on earth.  Please give me the strength and courage to fulfill my part in your plan.  Make my heart burn for my brothers.  Let us see your perfection in community.

Lord, Please give Jim, Jay, Calvin, and Kevin your mind and your heart that they may have your courage.

I read Psalms 83-84 aloud and Romans 6:1-14 with the Upper Room.

Thy kingdom come.  Thy will be done.

We talked about prayer in small group Monday.  The apostle Paul praying three times for his thorn to be removed and then God telling him His grace was sufficient keeps tumbling through my mind.  Not my will, but yours be done. -this is a hard prayer to get into the depths of my being.  It comes off the lips easy enough, but when I know God’s will might very well be counter things I hold dear it gives me paulse.

Abba Father, let me be open to you, trust you, love you, and worship you.

It is a blessing to have Kevin back with us this week.  Father, Please protect and bless him and his family.  How much longer until the new baby??

Father be with Jim as he seeks your face and in his battle to tame his mind against complaints.

Father, please be with Jay and Calvin as they go about their days.  May they always be aware of your closeness.

I read Psalm 38 aloud and John 16.

Yesterday was a good day.  I was given more grace in the areas of waiting for God and having patients with people.

Today I will continue to focus on only speaking words which build community in Christ.  I also hope for the discipline to to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice through the noise and stuff of today.

Please pray for my wife and our family as she starts maintenance (1 every 3 months) shock treatments for depression.  They were very effective last time, but had a large impact on the family.  I am very scared.

Lord,  what prayer would I pray for my brothers today; may they see glimpses of your kingdom everywhere they look today and know that you are near.
